a&o leads the way for quality management

The company is one of the first in the UK to be awarded BS PAS 99:2006

18th June 2007 a&o systems + services UK ltd. is one of the first companies in the UK to achieve the Publicly Available Standard 99 (PAS99). a&o UK has been awarded the standard for the integration of its quality and environmental systems into a single business framework.

PAS99, recently published by the British Standards Institution (BSI), provides businesses with a structure for integrating all aspects of their operations into a single management system. This helps to improve efficiency and avoids duplication in such areas as risk assessment, audits, system control, training and administration. It can also aid cost reduction through focused initiatives.

Paul Smith, Quality Manager at a&o, said: "This is an excellent step forward in helping our business move towards its long-term strategic objectives for continually improving quality and processes. It demonstrates to current and potential customers, suppliers, investors and stakeholders our commitment to working in the most efficient and effective manner possible.”

The accreditation covers six key areas of business: policy, planning, implementation and operation, performance assessment, improvement, and management review.

a&o UK already has longstanding accreditation to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 and BS EN ISO 14001:2004, for its quality and environmental systems; this standard helps bind the two together into a cohesive whole.
