EDS Global Field Services acquired by a&o group

15 November 2006 - UK – Significant emerging players in the IT services industry a&o, today announced the acquisition of EDS’ European Global Field Services businesses.

A definitive decision has been reached between EDS and a&o for the German-based group to acquire the GFS operations in UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Iberia and the Netherlands. Under the terms of the agreement, approximately 3,000 EDS GFS employees will transfer into a&o, increasing its headcount to more than 4,300 and extending the existing geographical reach, portfolio capabilities and client base significantly.

The acquisition represents the beginning of a long-term strategic business relationship between a&o and EDS; ensuring continuity for customers, partners and employees. “With this entirely positive business transaction, a&o will become the market leader for technical services in Europe,“ said the a&o group’s Managing Director Michael Müller.

a&o firmly believe that EDS GFS’ highly-qualified service engineers and technical experts will fit well into their established business structure. With a focus on flat hierarchies, a clear orientation towards mid-sized enterprises and focus on efficient cost structures; the goal is to set new benchmarks for service quality. The combined business will be positioned to address the field services requirements of service providers and global outsourcers; and to deliver IT service management and infrastructure services for corporate ICT functions.
